Fiat 500 Abarth I Want One
Back in the 60’s Abarth turned ordinary small Fiats into tuned up ‘I want one of those cars’. Today and sadly only for those in Europe (I’m guessing); Abarth are tuning up the all new retro styled Fiat 500.Due to be unveiled at the up coming Geneva Motor Show, The Fiat 500 Abarth will pack a turbocharged version of Fiat's 1.4-litre FIRE, with maximum horsepower at 5000RPM and a 0-62mph of around 8.2 seconds. The Fiat 500 Abarth has been slightly modified with the nose pushed forward to accommodate the turbocharger and its two intercoolers. The intercoolers are fed by a deeper airdam with a wide central slit and two side elements. No word on pricing, but I am sure it will be a hit and will definitely give the BMW Mini a run for its money. ads from Shopzilla

      Fiat 500 Abarth Officially-Official
Fiat has released the first official image along with initial details on one of the most anticipated hot hatches of the year, the all-new 500 Abarth that will debut in Geneva next month. Though one of our readers sent us five images of the 500 Abarth on Sunday , Fiat requested that we remove those photos; so unfortunately, this is the only picture we can show you for now. As anticipated, the Italian carmaker revealed that the 500 Abarth will be powered by Fiat’s new Fire 1.4-liter 16v petrol Turbo engine, which delivers a maximum of 135 bhp at 5,500 rpm and peak torque of 206 Nm at 3,000 rpm in ‘Sport’ mode (in ‘Normal’ mode, torque is reduced to 180 Nm at 2,500 rpm). Interestingly, Abarth has also equipped the 500 with an electronic Torque Transfer Control system (TTC) that hel

Geneva Motor Show 2008 Preview: First Fiat 500 Abarth official images leaked
This morning, we brought you a Fiat-provided doodle showing a super-deformed 500 Abarth meant to give us a gist of what to expect when the Italian automaker pulls the cover off the Scorpion-emblazoned performance variant. What we didn't expect was that we'd be seeing official images on the same day we posted the sketch. Thanks to Carscoop (and one of its generous readers), we've got exactly that. The first four (of many, we're sure) official images show the Nuova 500 dressed in the equivalent of a tracksuit and running shoes, with a full bodykit consisting of a new front spoiler, side skirts, and rear bumper with a nifty-looking diffuser insert through which a pair of rolled exhaust tips peek. Black, Scorpion-emblazoned 5-spoke wheels with silver and red accents sit inside the hot hatch's f

      Fiat Grande Punto Abarth SS
Fiat has big plans for the resurrected Abarth brand, wasting no time with a 180 HP splash in the body of the Grande Punto Abarth SS. Fiat plans to use Abarth as an in-house tuning and racing concern, and this car demonstrates the kind of tuning they have in mind. There are two Grande Punto Abarths: the base model comes to the party with "just" 150 HP, but the SS takes it up to 180 HP. The Abarth SS models also get a nice body kit that looks like it came from a Transformers spare parts bin. The interior is clean and basic, but not spartan, and well-laid out. Good luck to anyone who doesn't plan on racing everyone and everything at every stop light. For a small hatch, it's one of the hottest cars out there -- check out the special edition Frankfurt Auto Show wheels -- and the hottest presenters didn't hurt either.

Abarth is returning to the scene with force. The historic Italian tuning house, long a part of the Fiat group, has been hard at work turning Fiat's models into hot hatches worthy of the scorpion badge's revival. At Geneva we saw the production preview of the Grande Punto Abarth, and the Abarth version of the newly-launched 500 retromobile is expected at Tokyo. With their work cut out for them, the Fiat Abarth team is pounding the test track developing the dynamic duo. Both cars are anticipated to benefit from tightened-up suspensions, beefed-up brakes, revised bodywork, trim and badging, and two high-performance four-cylinder engines: one producing 150 horsepower, and an even more powerful version with output in the neighborhood of 180-200hp. With these kinds of hot hatches looming on the horizon, and a Bravo Abarth expected to follow shortly thereafter, the future is looking good.

Before Abarth was the inhouse tuning and racing division of Fiat, it was an independant automaker and racing team. Fiat purchased the company in 1971 and, if our research proves sound, the last Abarth model by Fiat was the 1984 Ritmo 130 TC Abarth. The rebirth of the Abarth name and a new "Scorpion" logo will be spearheaded by this car, the Grande Punto Abarth Preview, a production version of which will go on sale in September.
