Introduced to audiences by R&B/pop singer R. Kelly, Aaliyah became famous during the mid-1990s with several hit records from the songwriting/production team of Missy Elliott and Timbaland.Despite her short career, she sold approximately 32 million records worldwide. Unfortunately, we'll probably never see Timbaland produce for The Gossip (even though it would probably rock judging by what he did for The Hives and She Wants Revenege), so the closest we'll ever get is seeing The Gossip cover a song that Timbaland originally produced. It's a really cool cover. The strength of Beth's voice makes up for stripping away all of the original's Timbo-production. I never expected someone as indie as Beth Ditto to cover Top 40, even if the original was actually good.

As A Bit Of A Tribute To Timbaland's New Album, Here Is One Of His Best Achievements.Although she was not with us long, Aaliyah was one of the best R&B artists I have ever heard, as well as being my favourite, even now.
